Camper hire FAQs

Where will I collect my
campervan?

We are based in Meare next to Glastonbury which is just a short drive off the A303 from the Podimore Roundabout in Somerset.  We will send you full directions to our premises in Meare about a week before your camping trip.

where can I leave my car while I am on holiday?

You will be able to leave your car at our premises while you are away. It will be parked in a secure carpark at our home. There is no charge for this, but, we cannot be held responsible for your vehicle whilst you are away.

Will you be able to suggest places for us to visit?

Britain is brimming with a huge variety of attractions. There will be information in your campervan about local attractions and places to go.  However, we all have different requirements and suggest you do some homework before you leave for your break away.

How many people will our campervan sleep?

Your campervan sleeps up to 4 people.. i.e. 2 adults on the lower rib bed and 2 children/small adults in the upper bed area. There is a double rib bed in the lower accommodation area and a smaller bed in the pop top (roof area).

Anyone sleeping in the upper area will need to be fairly agile as it is a climb up to get into bed.  Great fun for the kids though!

What is included in our campervan and what do we need to take with us?

We love to have plenty of equipment and have been on enough camping trips to know what is needed for a pleasant, stress free holiday.

So, we have included items like, tables, (one for inside and one for outside use), 4 camping chairs, drinking glasses*, crockery* (*plastic/melamine), cutlery, many cooking utensils, saucepans, frying pan and tea towels. A comprehensive list of items will be provided by email when you make your booking.

We do not provide personal items like sleeping bags/bedding and towels as we believe you will want to use your own.

Do you supply toilet and washing facilities?

We have shower and toilet facilities for each of our campervans which are available to hire for a small charge.  (see ‘Extras you may need’ on our hire rates page).

The toilet is an eco friendly Popaloo and is extremely hygienic and easy to use.  It will be completely disinfected for your use. You will need to add bags to your booking for use in your Popaloo but we do not supply toilet paper.

The shower consist of a rechargeable, pumped shower unit and large collapsible bucket.  This will need to be filled with warmed water as the campervans water supply is cold only.  Hot water can be obtained from your campsites washroom or by heating kettles of water if you are wild camping.  We always take a pair of water shoes/flip flops for wearing whilst showering (even when using campsites showers).

A pop up tent will be supplied for using the shower and toilet.

Remember, you are camping so it won’t be exactly the same as being at home!

Do your campervans have WiFi?

Our campervans do not have WiFi because nowadays most mobile tariffs include mobile data.

The majority of campsites do have a free internet connection and from our experience it is usually very reliable.

Each campervan has 3 USB ports so there are ample points for charging everyone’s devices.

Where can we
camp?

We suggest you only go to approved campsites such as Camping and Caravanning Club (C.C.C), as they have many well-appointed locations. From our experience, C.C.C. sites generally have an abundance of facilities, are clean and make you extremely welcome.

Your campervan will come complete with a road atlas showing all the Camping and Caravanning Club (C.C.C) sites. We pay a privilege membership fee and you will find in your campervan a pack containing a guide to all their campsites, together with a privilege card. This card will enable you to get up to 30% discount on C.C.C. club sites which must be pre booked by calling 02476 475426. On arrival you will need to show the privilege card. This card MUST be returned when dropping of your campervan. NOTE – We do not receive a commission for bookings you make.

If you do want to go ‘wild camping’, we suggest you make sure you have permission from the relevant body/land owner.  However, to help you, each Campervan is fitted with a solar panel allowing you to go off grid for up to 4 days. (Sun shine dependant!)

Part of the fun for us is planning what we want to do and see.  If you enjoy walking for example, perhaps make sure there are walks close by.  We suggest you do your homework and look carefully at reviews from previous campers.

Can I take my dog?

Having our own little dog we know how important it is to take your family pet away with you.

Only one of our campervans is dog friendly. We allow one well behaved dog, so please contact us before making your booking if you wish to take your dog.

What if we break down?

We have chosen the new VW T6.1 transporter which are known for their reliability and safety features.

However, in the unlikely event of a breakdown, we have included a breakdown cover on your campervan.  You will find the breakdown information in the hire pack of your camper.

We cannot be held responsible for any loss of your holiday accommodation or any other losses so we suggest you take out the relevant travel/holiday insurance cover.

Will the campervan be insured?

Yes.  Our hire rates cover 1 driver for fully comprehensive insurance.  A second driver can be added for an extra charge. (see our hire rates)

We are sure you understand that hire insurance cover comes with terms and conditions set out by the insurance company and we have to abide by their rules and restrictions.  Please see our terms and conditions for more detailed information.

I want to buy my own campervan. Can you help?

Yes, we are able to help you build your own campervan.  We have good contacts for buying VW panel vans and work closely with a well established and highly skilled interior fitting company.

We are very happy to help you source your own campervan and offer advice for fitting it to suit your needs.

Please call us on 07717 721782 to discuss this further.

Can I take one of your campervans to the Glastonbury Festival?

We are really sorry, but we do not allow our campervans to go to Glastonbury Festival.

Somerset can suffer from a reasonable amount of rain and if the grounds at the festival are wet, heavy vehicles tend to sink into the ground.  Understandably, the farmers are keen to remove vehicles in a hurry at the end of the festival and often cause a lot of damage to vehicles if they need to be towed away.
